Well, I couldn't get what you mention so much. To me Japanese quite look like other north east asian too.
But if I pick a difference between Japan and those countries, it is gene. Japanese is a hybrid of Jomon(native) and Yayoi. Native Jomon is old mongoloid/asian and which is kin to middle eastern and people in mediterranean sea coast and look similar to them. That is why Japanese look part Caucasian for foreigners' eyes. But anyway to me Japanese look quite Japanese, not Caucasian.
People with the gene type only survived in Japan, Tibet and other small tribes in the world. Because Japan is an island, Tibet is on mountains.
