I lived in North Africa and its a very Mediterranean weather.
Second, during the times of King Tut people did not live long. Most were poor and worked under horrible conditions (under the sun).
The rich and the kings usually stayed in the shade or inside their temples. Chances are they rarely had much exposure to the sun.
